Jeff Van Gerwen was born in London, Ontario. In 2016, Van Gerwen moved to New Orleans, Louisiana. He serves as Producer and Director of Photography on The Late Game.In June of 2018, Van Gerwen made his debut as the writer-director-producer of the independent short film "It's Quiet Here." The film was awarded the Gold Award for Best Drama at the L.A. Shorts awards.
